Earlier this week, Rabbi Abba Cohen, Agudath Israel of America’s vice president for government affairs and Washington director and counsel, submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Education expressing the views of the organization regarding implementation of the recently passed American Rescue Plan’s Emergency Assistance for Nonpublic Schools program (EANS II). The main focus of the comments was to ensure that the $2.75 billion set aside for nonpublic school education, advocated for by Agudah and other private school representatives, will go to its intended targets, and maximize the participation of non-public schools and their students in the program.
