On Sunday morning, Agudath Israel of Illinois hosted a legislative event at Mikor for its community’s state legislators in West Roger Park. The breakfast began with opening remarks by Senator Ram Villivalam and Representative Kevin Olickal followed by a candid Q & A. These events typically offer an opportunity to hear from legislators regarding their plans for the upcoming session, accomplishments for our community, and to ask questions on relevant topics and issues. This year, many attendees asked questions focused on Israel, statements from state legislators on the war in Gaza, and the spike in antisemitism since October 7th. Other topics addressed included community safety and security, the future of STC and other school choice initiatives, inflation, and more.
