New Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Lauded for “Concern for Needs of All New Yorkers”

New York, NY – Agudath Israel of America’s Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration, Rabbi Shlomo Gertzulin, praised Mayor-elect Bill DeBlasio for naming Lilliam Barrios-Paoli to serve as his Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services.

“Agudath Israel knows Ms. Barrios-Paoli very well,” said Rabbi Gertzulin. “Many of our program directors have worked with her and her staff over an extended period spanning several decades going as far back as the Koch and Giuliani administrations. Throughout her tenure heading up New York City’s Department for the Aging as well as the Human Resources Administration, she has always dealt with our organization as well as numerous other human and social service agencies throughout the city in a caring and sensitive manner. Ms. Barrios-Paoli has consistently demonstrated her concern for the needs of all New Yorkers, especially the vulnerable and needy.”

Added Rabbi Dovid Seeve, Administrative Director of Agudath Israel Community Services, “as far back as her days in the New York City Department of Employment, Ms. Barrios-Paoli demonstrated her empathic understanding for the needs of the many diverse communities in the city, including our own.
