Dear NYS Principals and Administrators,
As you may be aware, the original deadline obligating funds for EANS was August 23, 2021. The language was as follows: August 23 – Federal deadline for funds to be obligated. By this date, (1) all items purchased by nonpublic schools that are to be reimbursed by NYSED must be purchased by the schools, and (2) NYSED must have an executed contract for all requested non-reimbursable assistance.
At this point, NYS has received an extension from the US DOE on this deadline. This arrangement is still being worked out, and we will share more details once they’re clear and there is there a new date set.
Please note: NYSED is in the process of finalizing reviews of applications that were submitted. Once reviews are completed, they will reach out to schools with any outstanding issues or questions that were not resolved during the reviews with BOCES. While no specific timeframe on reimbursement for each application can be provided, they are in the process of putting the first reimbursement through the new system and anticipate moving more through as soon as possible.
As always, feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
