High School Voter Registration Campaign
New York State law allows those ages 16 and over to preregister. Registration will take effect when the register turns 18. This week we began our campaign of visiting local high schools, registering seniors for voting in the next election. If you would like us to come to your school to register your students, please reach out to Atara Fialkoff at 212-797-9000 ext. 320.
Assistance for New York Homeowners
The NYS homeowner assistance fund (NYSHAF) is a federally funded program dedicated to assisting homeowners who are at risk of default, foreclosure, or displacement as a result of financial hardship caused by COVID-19. The deadline for applying is February 18th. To apply, please call our SBCO division at 718-435-1300.
Mask Requirement Lifted
Yesterday Governor Hochul announced that the statewide indoor business mask-or-vaccine requirement has been lifted. This protocol, a temporary measure, was implemented on December 10 as statewide cases spiked with the rise of the Omicron variant. With case counts plummeting and hospitalizations sharply declining, this temporary measure is no longer needed statewide. Counties, cities, and businesses will be able to opt into the mask-or-vaccine requirement if they so choose.
