Florida court dismisses lawsuit challenging education reform programsOn Tuesday, Leon County Circuit Court Judge George Reynolds dismissed the wide-ranging lawsuit challenging many of Florida’s education reform programs. The lawsuit was filed in 2009 by several groups and individuals. Originally, the focus of the lawsuit was on the adequacy of the public education offered by the state, but was amended two years ago to challenge Florida’s school choice programs. The court had earlier dismissed several claims against the scholarship tax credit and McKay voucher program for special needs students and this ruling dismissed the remaining claims. The plaintiffs have vowed to appeal the ruling to the Florida Supreme Court.
