On Wednesday, Maryland inaugurated Governor Larry Hogan as its 62nd chief state executive. Agudath Israel participated in a number of the festivities, including braving a brief, but intense, snowstorm that began as the new governor and his lieutenant governor, Boyd Rutherford, were sworn into office on the steps of the State House. Rabbi Ariel Sadwin, Agudath Israel’s Maryland director, participated in several of the evening events, where he had the opportunity to meet and interact with a number of key members of Governor Hogan’s administration. The governor’s first order of business is to unveil his state budget, the number one priority of Maryland governors. In it, he hopes to provide his first wave of solutions for the budget shortfall and to begin to roll back some of the taxes he has pledged to decrease.
