Dear NYS Principals and Administrators,

We have received advance notice that the obligation deadline for EANS I is imminent, and subsequent to that deadline, the remaining unobligated funds will be transferred to GEER – Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund.

We anticipate that there will be a short, final, ‘last chance’ period to apply for EANS funds that may start any day.

What does this mean for you?
  • If you are a school that received an EANS I allocation: you will want to ensure that your allocation is obligated, either through reimbursement requests or contracting for services. There may be a short window of opportunity to request, and use, an additional allocation. If you intend to apply for an additional allocation, make sure you are already prepared to submit reimbursements or requests for additional services. See our previous memo here for more information.
  • If you are a school that is eligible for an EANS I allocation (I.e., you did not receive a PPP loan after 12/27/2020), but did not receive an allocation, there may still be an opportunity to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI), receive an allocation, and apply for reimbursement or services. As the window of opportunity may be very limited, we suggest that you:
    • Prepare an LOI now, information HERE
    • Be prepared to submit reimbursements or requests for additional services. See our previous memo here for details.
  • We anticipate that the criteria for allocating GEER funds to non-public schools will be much more flexible. Therefore, if you are a school that is ineligible for an EANS I allocation (I.e., you received a PPP loan after 12/27/2020) you may be able to benefit from the GEER funding.

As always, feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
