Dear NYS Principals and Administrators,

As we mentioned in our previous email, there is a final opportunity to apply for EANS I funds. There is still a significant amount of unallocated funds available.

Schools that are eligible for an EANS I allocation (i.e. did not receive a PPP loan after 12/27/2020), but did not receive an allocation, are eligible to request an allocation.

Schools that already received an EANS allocation may be eligible to request a larger allocation for additional unmet needs. After all unmet needs are met, remaining unobligated EANS I funds will revert to the Governor for allowable uses under the CRRSA Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) program.

Accordingly, NYSED is asking each school that received an EANS allocation to identify remaining unmet needs that are in addition to any previous requests, submitted applications or allotments. All previous requirements pertaining to eligibility to participate in EANS 1, including certification that the school did not apply for or accept Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) after December 27, 2020, remain in effect. Please see the eligibility requirements for EANS I in question 5 of the LOI here.

Schools that have previously submitted budgets for EANS 1 should not include needs that have already been submitted to be met under their originally designated allocation. The requests you make here should be for NEW funds or assistance.

All requests must be within the guidelines of and allowable under EANS 1. Eligible reimbursement requests and services include:

The application, found here, needs to be submitted by April 26. It should be emailed to [email protected] to identify your school’s unmet needs or to let NYSED know that your school doesn’t have any remaining unmet needs. If NYSED doesn’t receive your application by the deadline, they will consider your school to not have any remaining unmet needs.

If the total amount requested exceeds the remaining EANS I unobligated funds, NYSED will pro-rate the available funding. NYSED also reserves the right to prioritize funding to schools that have not received or been approved to receive EANS I funded services and/or assistance.

As always, feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
