Indiana House and Senate Pass Important Education Bill

A hotly contested education bill, House Bill 1005 passed the Indiana House 51-43 late Wednesday and passed the Senate 33-17 the next day. One of the measures, taken from Senate Bill 334, adds a second application window for students wishing to receive a tuition voucher. Agudath Israel and the nonpublic school community advocated for this provision so that students are not locked out of the voucher program if they choose to attend a private school midyear. It now goes to Governor Pence’s desk for his signature.
