On Wednesday night, a group of dedicated boys in Savannah, Georgia, celebrated a remarkable accomplishment: the completion of Mishnayos Seder Moed. The mesaymim were inspired by the Pirchei Shabbos of Achdus they attended in April at Camp Agudah Midwest in South Haven, Michigan. This uplifting shabbaton brought together many boys from 14 different cities across the Midwest. While still in the airport on their way home, they committed to encouraging other boys in their community to complete the entire Seder Moed in a short time. This tremendous undertaking was successfully accomplished, and together they finished an entire seder of Mishnayos. Their achievement was celebrated by the whole Savannah community, a testament to the community’s love of Torah.
Rabbi Yochanan Adler, Savannah’s Pirchei Director, opened the evening, followed by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus, Morah D’asra Savannah GA, who offered heartfelt divrei brachah to the mesaymim and their families.
Rabbi Labish Becker, executive director of Agudas Yisroel of America, addressed the attendees on behalf of Pirchei Agudas Yisroel of America. He discussed the importance of capitalizing on the fleeting moments of inspiration, just as the mesaymim did, and commended the boys for their incredible accomplishment.
Two of the mesaymim were honored with making the siyum; Dovi Nitekman learned the last mishnah and Zev Weinberg said the hadran.
The siyum, complete with a beautiful seudas mitzvah and lively dancing, was a true celebration of the boys’ commitment to limud haTorah.
“The siyum was a beautiful event, so full of chasivus haTorah you could feel it,” said Rabbi Becker. “I went to the siyum with the goal of inspiring everyone there, but I walked away the most inspired of them all.”
Pirchei Agudas Yisroel would like to wish a huge mazel tov to the following mesaymim:
Amichai Glass, Avinoam Glass, Avraham Yehuda Goldman, Reuvan Moshe Goldman, Pinny List, Shloimy Maccabee, Dovi Nitekman, Yeshaya Nitekman, Dovid Rabhan, Tzviki Rabhan, Yaakov Rabhan, Leo Schachter, Yosef Slatus, and Zev Weinberg.
