July 20 Update

New York City Enters Phase 4

Beginning Monday July 20th, New York City will enter Phase 4 of reopening, joining the rest of New York State. Phase 4 allows for the reopening of, among other things, media production, low-risk outdoor entertainment, and schools (with restrictions). However indoor activities at malls, restaurants or cultural institutions will not be permitted yet

Nursing Home Visitations

Starting July 20th, New York will allow visits to nursing homes and long-term care facilities on a limited basis. Visits will be allowed at facilities that have been free of new COVID cases for at least 28 days. Only two people will be allowed to visit each resident and each must undergo a temperature check, wear a mask, and social distance while visiting.

Travel Advisory Still in Effect

The travel quarantine imposed by New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut is still in effect.  Individuals traveling to New York from the following states must quarantine for 14 days: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin. Travelers from hotspot states can be fined for non-compliance of quarantine rules.

Please help spread the word to anyone traveling from the designated states that they must complete a Traveler Health Form.

New York State residents returning from any of these hotspots that do not have appropriate accommodations for quarantine, should call their local health department

Rental Assistance

Beginning July 16, renters impacted by the pandemic can apply to a new COVID Rental Assistance Program. The program will provide direct aid for tenants who lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is funded through the Coronavirus Relief Fun, which is part of the CARES Act.

New Yorkers can access program applications here.

The Covid Rent Relief Program is not first come, first served. Applications will be accepted throughout the two-week application period. The program will prioritize eligible households with “greatest economic and social need” accounting for income, rent burden, percent of income lost and risk of homelessness

Health Insurance Deadline Extended

The deadline for health insurance special enrollment has been extended to August 15, 2020. New Yorkers without health insurance can apply for coverage through the NY State of Health Plan Marketplace.

Alternate Side Parking

Alternate Side of the Street Parking will be back in effect beginning Monday, July 20, 2020. On days when ASP is in effect, residential streets will not be cleaned more than once a week on each side. If a side of a street has an ASP sign showing multiple days, street cleaning regulations will be in effect on that side of the street only on the latest day posted on the sign.
