Dear NYS Principals and Administrators,

Today, March 2, the statewide requirement for masks in schools ends. This applies to New York City nonpublic schools as well. Article 43 and 47 programs, which fall under NYC DOHMH guidance, still need to ensure their students are masked, however, Mayor Eric Adams announced on Sunday that New York City will lift its indoor mask mandate for all students and “Key to NYC” requirements on Monday, March 7 if the five boroughs continue to see a “low level” of COVID-19 risk.

New guidance for schools has been issued by the New York State Department of Health.

The Department has also provided a set of Frequently Asked Questions.
