Never Dreamed…Would Save His Life

Mr. Gross was a regular at the Moriah Senior Center in Washington Heights, sponsored by Agudath Israel of America.  Providing health, recreational, nutritional, social and volunteer services, Moriah is a magnet for those ages 60 and up and Mr. Gross is one of many who come to the center for a good meal, great company and enjoyable activities.  The senior center has always been an important part of Mr. Gross’s day, but no one could have imagined just how vital a role Moriah would end up playing in Mr. Gross’s life.

It was a day that started pretty much like any other for the staff, volunteers and seniors at Moriah, until Mr. Gross suffered a stroke while at the facility.  Alert staff members called Hatzolah who were on scene within minutes, rushing Mr. Gross to the hospital where doctors began treating him immediately.  Baruch Hashem, Mr. Gross recovered from his stroke and was eventually released from the hospital.  Since he was initially unable to make the trip to Moriah, the senior center arranged to have kosher meals delivered directly to him and thankfully, Mr. Gross is back on his feet again and at Moriah whenever possible.

Moriah has long been Mr. Gross’s favorite place in the world. But he probably never dreamed that one day, the Moriah Senior Center would save his life.
