New Fingerprinting Rule

Dear NYC Principals and Administrators,

The following update applies to Article 47 programs.

As of July 3rd, new childcare staff will need to receive the results from their fingerprinting process, with no negative implications, before they can start working in the childcare program. They can’t begin working with just a fingerprinting receipt, as was allowed in the past.

New and prospective staff and volunteers are allowed to begin working in a child care program as long as the following conditions are met:

  • They must be line-of- sight supervised by a person who has received a Comprehensive Background Check (CBC) clearance.

  • Their fingerprint results have been received with no negative implications, and

  • all their other Article 47 required documents, such as immunization requirements, meet regulatory compliance.

As always, feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
