Dear NYS Principals and Administrators,
Please see below for updates regarding various security grants and programs:
- New Hate Crimes Grant: There is a new $25 million SCAHC (Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes) grant for NYS. See our memo here for more information. The deadline for submissions is January 7, 2022.
- Grants Gateway: NYS only accepts applications for grants once the applicant is prequalified in the Grants Gateway. If you are planning on applying for this grant and you are not yet prequalified, you should begin the prequalification process now by clicking here.
- Eligibility: Applicants that are at-risk, NY nonprofit organizations that have not previously received an SCAHC award through DHSES are eligible to apply. Additionally, multi-site nonprofits may apply to harden sites not previously covered by a SCAHC grant.
- Request an assessment. The JCRS’s CSI division conducts professional assessments for facilities and provides the information necessary to complete the application process. Click here to request an assessment.
- Prior Hate Crimes Grant: On Wednesday, November 3 at 10 am, the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) will be holding a webinar on the SCAHC grant regarding awarded funds and the execution of the 2019 contracts. Click here to join the webinar.
- Nonprofit Security Grant Program: On Tuesday, November 9th at 10 am, there will be a webinar from the DHSES about the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). Click here to join.
- There are also a number of webinars from FEMA on the NSGP on several different dates. See here for more information.
- Note that the NSGP grant is not currently open.
