Your voice made a difference!

Yesterday the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Antisemitism Awareness Act by a vote of 320-91.

Passing the bill with a bipartisan vote, and by such a wide margin, sends a strong message that Congress, like most Americans, rejects the vitriolic antisemitism we are seeing on college campuses. It also sends an important message to college and university leaders that such behavior will not be tolerated any longer, and that government will act when “protests” cross the line.

We hope that this is the first step towards stricter enforcement of civil rights laws that are intended to protect Jewish and other students.

A few months ago, at Agudath Israel’s Rockland County Legislative Meet and Greet (here), bill sponsor Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) spoke about the failures in education that lead to antisemitism. Rep Lawler also acknowledged Agudah’s support yesterday in his powerful speech on the House floor (here)!

We appreciate the leadership of bill sponsors Rep. Lawler and Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D- NJ).

Please take a moment to thank your representatives who voted for the bill and ask the Senate to do the same and pass this bill as soon as possible. Fill in your contact information below and send both emails with two clicks.

Thank you for taking action!
