Dear Principals and Administrators,
Please share the following important message with your parent body and direct them to https://agudah.org/tuition-scholarships-can-become-a-reality-in-all-50-states-this-year-take-action-now:
Congress is currently considering a game-changing school choice proposal that will support K-12 scholarships in all 50 states, but we need your help to make it a reality.
In the last session of Congress, Agudath Israel and its coalition partners supported a national school choice proposal and worked with the bill sponsors to garner the support of more than 180 co-sponsors. The bill was reintroduced this year by Senators Bill Cassidy and Tim Scott and Representatives Adrian Smith and Burgess Owens and is quickly building momentum.
The “Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA)” will encourage individual and corporate taxpayers to invest in education and cover expenses facing private school children. It does this by allowing a dollar-for-dollar federal tax credit (NOT a deduction) for individuals and corporations who contribute to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO). These SGOs would then provide scholarships to children of eligible families for a range of educational expenses, including private school tuition!
Scholarship eligibility is for families earning 300% of the median income in that area (see chart here), which means a very large percentage of the families in our community will be eligible.
Agudath Israel has been at the forefront of crafting and promoting ECCA, working with the sponsors and coalition partners over several years. Now Congress needs to hear from YOU.
We urge you to contact your members of Congress by email using the link below. To see if your member of Congress already signed on as a co-sponsor see HERE for House bill and HERE for Senate bill. If they have, please edit the text to express your appreciation. If not, ask them to add their names to this important bill. Most importantly, we need to urge them to include ECCA in its current form into the budget reconciliation bill that is now moving through Congress.
Congress must hear your voice.
