On Friday, the Senate introduced SB2, a $1 billion Education Savings Account (ESA) proposal.
What’s Included:
All students, regardless of income, can apply for $11,500 ESA for educational expenses including private school tuition.
How Funds Are Allocated:
If fewer applicants than funds: Everyone gets an ESA.
If more applicants than funds:
80% of funds go to low-income students who attended public school the previous year.
The remaining $200 million goes to a lottery for others.
What We’re Advocating For:
We’re pushing to prioritize all low-income students, even if they didn’t attend public school the previous year.
What You Can Do:
See below to send a respectful message to Lt.Gov Patrick and Senate Education Chair Brandon Creighton urging them to prioritize ALL low income students.
