Dear NYC Principals and Administrators,
We are pleased to share the projected timeline for the Title Process for the upcoming 2024-25 School Year. Please adhere to this timeline to confirm your participation in the program and ensure that services will start as early as possible in the coming school year.
- June 10 – By this date you should have received an email from Shay Cohen of The Jewish Education Project (TJEP) with your estimated Title I allocation for the coming year.
- June 18 – Return the Intent to Participate form to TJEP.
- June 30 – Confirm your vendor selection ONLY if you intend to change your vendor for the coming year. Please see HERE for a summary of available vendors and their service costs.
- July 31 – Vendors submit their completed Needs Assessments on behalf of their schools.
- July 31 – For students to receive Title services, schools are required to nominate students using the Title I Educational Survey that can be found in NPSIS. The survey will close on July 31, 2024.
- After nominations are entered in the survey, the eligibility of students to participate in Title I services is determined. To be eligible for Title I services, a student must be zone-eligible and academically eligible.
- October 31 – The second Title I Educational Survey will open on August 12, 2024, and close on October 31, 2024, by which time ALL scores must be entered for students who have been nominated so that eligibility can be determined.
We would like to highlight some important points:
Nominating based on test scores:
- Students can be nominated based on their test results or qualifying test identification, even if a score is not yet available. However, schools are required to enter the missing scores by October 31, 2024, once they become available.
- After October 31st, any student that does not have an appropriate test or assessment score, including those nominated with the SBA option, will no longer be eligible for Title I services.
School-Based Assessment (SBA):
- For information regarding School Based Assessments, please see our prior email here.
- For schools not yet using standardized assessments, the SBA option may be used to nominate students for services. If a school utilizes a test already featured on the educational determining criteria chart (found on page 5 here), they should not select the SBA option.
- The School-Based Assessment score for students to be eligible has been lowered from 75 to 64
- If a school chooses to utilize the School Based-Assessment option, documents must be maintained on site at the school to be reviewed by the Office of Nonpublic Schools (ONPS) team during monitoring visits.
