Dear NYC Principals and Administrators,
Earlier this school year, we informed yeshivos that, per the Department of Education, library orders for Jewish oriented books should be place through Follett- see here. The DOE also told us that if schools did not receive their books within 30 days, we should let them know.
At that time, we urged yeshivos to begin ordering immediately to ensure their timely receipt of library materials. Schools that submitted their orders early on were able to receive most of the Jewish-oriented books they ordered.
We now have learned that Follett is unable to supply Jewish-oriented books. We have been working on this issue for two and a half years and will continue to push the DOE to issue an RFP for additional vendors that can source Jewish oriented books.
As this issue is unlikely to be resolved for this ordering period, we recommend that if you haven’t yet spent your library funds, please do so immediately so as not to lose whatever funds you may have left.
As always, feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
